How the other half live
The day began cloudy, but the sun came out again in great style by the middle of the day. We headed off in search of brunch and actually settled for an all-day-breakfast with all the usual greasy bits and pieces. After that we just kept on walking along Avenida de Tirajana, which is the main North/South street in Playa del Inglés. A few stops along the way, including a chat with a very insistent guy about boat or other trips, and somehow we found ourselves at the Riu Palace hotel, a really posh place to be.
We brazenly walked through the lobby and out to the very large terrace and pool area which leads down to a fine view over the dunes of Maspalomas. All very nice, and a great way to finish the day with a couple of G&Ts. I didn't realised I'd caught this very happy, smiley guy on camera until I saw the shot on my iPad.
Our evening meal should have been great, but wasn't. We went back to the OK restaurant where we'd eaten so well last year, but the food this time was very disappointing. We really didn't plan to take a pit stop after that, but a little bar in the Yumbo Centre somehow enticed us in.
