if you go down to the woods today

Beautifully sunny and warm so off we went to Trent Park with +3/3 and the canine +1 for a wander, play and coffee (not +3/3; he was content with a doughnut covered in sprinkles instead).

The iMac saga continues and this time I have no-one to blame but myself: I discovered the hard way that extreme care is required when disassembling an LCD screen to clean the dust out as otherwise you'll crack one of the corners and that will be that. Sod it. Actually, this one can also be blamed somewhat on Apple: while their hardware engineering is usually excellent in this case they made a rare boo-boo. The iMac's screens back directly onto the computer's gubbins i.e. the CPU, motherboard, HD, graphics card, etc. Many of these get quite toasty and so have a couple of big fans to help cooling. Because of the limited space inside an iMac the airflow is quite vigorous; consequently if the screen module isn't properly sealed then dust is blown between the back of the LCD and the rear light leading to blotchy patches over the screen. A common problem in mid-2010 iMacs apparently.
