Getting Spliced
As part of the National Heritage Open Days event, there were lots of places open this weekend in Stratford, and we have done our best to visit as many as we could over the last couple of days.
Today we went to the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust where they had an exhibition which was mainly about local history. We also visited the Old Slaughter House, which I went to a couple of months ago, to help them with their project regrading local streets, and tell them whatever I could remember about the old shops that used to be in Stratford. There was also a chap there with a display of ropework and knots etc. C asked him about a particular bit of splicing that he wanted help with, and the chap was very keen to assist. C has spliced ropes for many years to use mainly onboard the boats when we were diving, and he makes an excellent job of them, but it was just one thing that has always bugged him that he wanted advice on, and he came away delighted.
Also going on in Stratford today was a 10K run, "Olde English" dancing, singers, a market, and all manner of events.
My "extra" is of a group of scooters that we spotted down Waterside.
