Morning Coffee
Very strange - I went to bed at 3 and woke at 7.30! Even stranger I got up and went for a walk into the village! Even more strange I didn't have a George Clooney before going!!! There were two reasons for this, I didn't want to miss the morning light, what was left of it, and I had read that coffee first thing messes up your bodies natural energy highs and was best drunk later in the morning.
The village was surprisingly active. The pub cleaners were on a break and chatting outside over a cup of tea, people were walking their dogs, and a rower was pulling her boat out of the water. This really ruffled the various water fowls feathers - ducks were quacking and paddling to and fro. One Muscovy registered its displeasure at being disturbed by sitting on her boat!
After taking lots of photos of boats, ducks, seagulls and the viaduct I headed for the shop - intending to get a coffee and hot Danish! Coffee they had, Danish they did not, so a picnic bar it was! I also bought a Sunday paper and Dartmoor magazine!! 15 years I have lived down here and this is the first time I have bought it! Look what meeting mydartmoorwalks and Gilesey have done to me!
Having sat and had my breakfast, along with a woman and bloke doing the same,I meandered back up the hill. Then ensued a mammoth tidy up! Washing, loading of dishwasher, tidying of kitchen - what a mess that AH14 had left me in!!!! Next stop the recycling centre to get rid of the plastic that was taking up my entire boot of the car! Unfortunately I came back with more stuff! I spotted 2 huge glass vases and 3 silver metal flower buckets - all of it came to £4! Bargain! Honestly I think I could buy anything anywhere, however remote or unlikely it would appear!
Once home it was a long cuddle with Tilly, she is subdued. We both miss Milly but at least I know where she has gone - Tilly just seems bereft and bewildered - more sadness for me.
After walking Portly the next job was cleaning the car inside as MOT tomorrow. So wish I had done this before AH14 stayed - it really was a mess! But then it is used to ferry foodstuff for the compost and chickens, and produce, and on occasion chickens, so it's bound to be messy. I think I should trade it in for a land rover! But I do love my Seat Ibiza! It's a fast little car in more ways than one!
Finally exhausted I had a lunch/dinner and went to bed! Up 2 hours later to put the chickens to bed in the pouring rain! But I got to wear my new waterproof trousers so all good!
I had been meaning to rant over the Charlotte Proudman LinkedIn sexism row when it first broke, but it's a bit late now so won't labour the point but really, talk about systemic sexism and an old boys club - his was just a "silly "mistake? Seriously?
