Birthday party
Ivy had an amazing time at her birthday party. Huge thanks to everyone who came along, sorry I didn't have a chance to sit and chat to you all. Also thankyou very much for all the wonderfull presents Ivy recieved, she'll be given 1 or 2 to open a day, so September has basically become birthday month! Further thanks to everyone who helped out- Jayne who appeared with Jelly to fix our nearly no pudding disaster, Lisa who saved circle time from my terrible singing, Laura who got roped into helping in the kitchen, John who took Ivy at 8am in the morning, Tess who held Briar whilst I frantically cleared up all the toys and everyone else who jsut generally helped with child crowd management and tidying up.
John took her this morning, so Euan and I could continue to dash about getting things done. I put the finishing touches on the 6 layered 'Rainbow Rob' penguin cake and sorted out sensory play whilst Euan made a lion face out of carrot sticks and prepared 20 individual pots of frozen yoghurt.
Several things went wrong with her party, including not being able to get the child sized tables out the cupboard and the frozen yoghurt being more frozen than yoghurt 10 minutes before it was due to be served. But none of the kids seemed to mind sitting on the floor to eat their party food- and I think Euan enjoyed the challenge of putting frozen yoghurt in the oven....
Ivy, didn't get overexcited and overtired like we worried she would. There were tears- but only because I stupidly put out salt as sensory play and Ivy got some in her eyes. She bounced back really quickly though. Whilst walking home I asked her what the highlight had been and she said 'kanagaroo song', so she's easily pleased.
Briar and Willow were angels. They both had a feed and then went to sleep in the corner. I'd put them in the corner of the hall where it was warmest, but this inadvertantly meant all the grown ups went and sat there too, so I accidentally put everyone in the corner.
The party was animal fancy dress, Ivy was a kangaroo, Willow was a Zebra (she kicks) and Briar was a giraffe (she always has her tongue out)
