Blurry
A day late blipping and the day’s events are already a blur. The helpful nurse came from Home Care and assured us that HH should be receiving visits from the physio and phonoaudiologist (although he has been home for two weeks now and no one has been so far).
As daughter’s tastes in food and eating schedule are very different from ours, we went down the road to a ‘by kilo’ restaurant for lunch. They have an amazing buffet, as well as barbecue and sushi counters, and you just help yourself to what you fancy and pay by weight. Extremely good, and good value. Then daughter went off with HH to try to solve some of the bank problems that require his presence. After I threw a mini-wobbly and put my foot down, HH agreed to use the wheelchair, as it would have taken forever and been very tiring for him to walk that far (he had already walked to the restaurant). In the end, as I thought it would, it worked to his advantage in the bank and he was invited to jump the queue – unfortunately, he was no more successful than I had been and we’ll have to go to another bank tomorrow. Brazilian bureaucracy would drive the saintliest saint mad.
After the bank, they had a great time, with daughter wheeling him off to buy some much needed trainers (shoes). I’m not sure what else they got up to, but they were out for a long time! I vaguely recall managing to get some work done while they were out.
In the evening, I took my laptop downstairs, meaning to do some blipping, but we wound up watching a very silly but amusing American college film instead. HH’s carer came at 8 pm to spend the night and joined us – thought he might have been shocked, but he seemed well amused. I must take advantage of the opportunity for a good night’s sleep tonight, as I’ll be back sleeping on the sofa near HH from tomorrow on.
