Buff Weka

These birds on Mou Waho Island are  so tame, mind you they would not let themselves be caught, they just want to check that you have no food they can steal.  This one got away with someone's sandwich, and tried my gardening gloves, but they were dropped promptly.

We visited the back of the Island with DOC staff and Chris who runs Eco Tourism and has the boat. He is so so enthusiastic and keen about the island and the history.   About 150 natives trees were planted.
