Small Tortoiseshell Butterfly

Sadly, this lovely creature is in rapid decline and none of the "boffins" seem to know why. Its favourite plant is the nettle and we all know there is an abundance of those. The only plausible reason given is air pollution, drought and global warning.  The larvae of these butterflies can only thrive on cool  and wet nettle leaves which has reflected on their population. This particular butterfly is the National Butterfly of Denmark
