King's Manor
A quick visit to York this morning. Decided as the weather was rather grey to take the camera and search out some colour.
Whilst in Exhibition Square noticed the coat of Arms on Kings Manor. King's Manor was originally built to house the Abbots of St. Mary's Abbey. In Henry VIII's time it housed the Council of the North before being used as a school for the blind. It was then leased to the University of York before they moved to the site in Heslington. They retained the building and it now houses the Department of Archaeology, Centre for Medieval Studies and Centre for Eighteenth Century Studies.
As we drove home we encountered a number of students man handling a three piece suite along the street. If there had been a place to stop the car that could well have been today's Blip!
