The Catch
And a bloody good catch it was too!
Today was a lot better than yesterday work-wise, no data mishaps and plenty of reports written. But it's a Wednesday and that means footy, but today it also meant rounders as well as I headed there after the footy, and that led to today's Blip.
Pictured is Adam, who is one of the best rounders players in the group (and the league) that I tend to hang out with; he can hit the ball wherever he wants and he's a great backstop to boot - also when he outfields he's got a hell of an arm to match. He's also great with the banter - it works especially well as he's got a pretty strong Aussie accent and so everyone loves to banter with him!
Yet today he was outshone!
This brings us to the arm pictured, which belongs to J from the BioChrom (yep, last week's team from the Zoology match), who has quite a bit of baseball experience and is probably one of the other best players in the league. In the timed innings match Adam was on his second bat when he hit it behind. This is usually not a big deal, you can only run to first base, but you're not usually out unless Adam (or myself) is backstopping...
Except J bloody well caught him!
And in fine style as well, after the catch that you can see he was diving through the air and rolled twice before coming to a halt. Adam was nearly halfway to first when he realised everyone was clapping for a different reason and turned to see J standing up with a big grin on his face.
Best part was that Adam then immediately came back and shook J's hand, it was well deserved and may just be the best bit of skill we'll see for a few matches!
