My wife and I are contemplating joining the Southlake Community Band so I brought my trumpet out of the closet to dust it off and see if I was up to playing. Actually, I took it out to dust my chops off since I haven't played in over a year.

I played trumpet through high school and my first year of college, but when I started playing the bass guitar the trumpet was put aside. Then after 20 years of not playing my trumpet, I picked it up again and joined a brass choir plus played at my church. When I moved from Texas to Pennsylvania, the trumpet is what brought my wife and I together. She was the choir director at the church I grew up in and needed a trumpet player for an anthem. The rest, as they say is history. I have my trumpet to thank for bringing us together, so I guess I shouldn't keep it hidden away in the closet. ;-)
