Wales Millenium Centre, Cardiff Bay.

This building was constructed in 2009 to host entertainments of all descriptions such as  opera, ballet, dance, musicals and comedy. The main hall has a capacity of 1897 seats and there are two further two halls with a joint capacity of 600 seats The exterior construction is of 1,350 tonnes of multi coloured slates ( purple, blue, green, grey and black) collected from various Welsh slate quarries, the idea being that it represents the different colours of rock strata in the local cliffs.  The cladding at the front is of copper coated steel sheets manufactured by the Welsh steel industry.  The Welsh wording on the front broadly translated  reads "Creating truth like glass from the furnace of inspiration". A wonderful place to visit.
