Russia Day 6 - Mother Volga

We have been cruising the Volga River, our latest port being Yaroslavl , a town with several interesting museums and churches and an extensive indoor market, which had a surprisingly wide variety of local produce for sale.
Later in the day we reached a huge canal lock through which the ship passed into a vast reservoir , part of the Volga / Baltic Waterway which links Moscow to St Petersburg. Near this lock was this statue to Mother Volga, just being lit by the Rays of the setting sun
