More highs than lows
Went out to the smoke in the sunshine for London open house, although we were a bit late leaving as Dylan got his leg stuck jumping through a window and let out a cry like a cat fight. He limped briefly but shook it off.
In London we started off at the beautiful Bevis Marks synagogue which is 315 years old and the oldest synagogue in Britain. Great talk on everything from the history of the building to the life of Benjamin Disraeli.
Then went to 110 Bishopsgate and took the gut wrenching express lift to the 40th floor where we had drinks and nibbles and enjoyed some stunning views of which this is one. The lift was very fast and freaked TSM out. I think my stomach may have had to take the stairs but it was worth it and much easier coming down.
After that we went to Saint Botolph's church which was closed for refurbishment but had a lovely courtyard where we sat and ate bagels and talked to a guy sitting on a bench drinking beer. Very entertaining conversation in which he revealed he played the currency markets and never earned less than £150,000 per year. We also talked about The Man From Uncle and vintage toys and - well a lot of things.
Then walked down to the drapers Hall in Frogmorton Street which was absolutely stunning inside with lots of gilded ceilings, beautiful big rooms, and huge portraits. Unfortunately my stiff neck turned into a bad headache at this point which was reluctant to leave me (perhaps I should have gone back in that fast lift to see if I could leave it on the ground floor). But it sorted itself out when we got home.
Also had a family member with a few issues today and a brush with the NHS but that turned out alright. Taking the day as a whole, more highs than lows and the highs were spectacular...
