Russia Day 8 - Kizhi Island

Today we reached the furthest north point of our cruise at Kizhi Island which is on the same latitude as Alaska. The weather has also changed to wet and grey conditions . We have cruised through Lake Onega, the second largest in Europe, and tomorrow we reach Lake Ladoga which is the biggest in Europe. It is like being at sea and tonight there is a bit of a swell on the water.
Kizhi Island is an outdoor architectural museum of wooden buildings gathered from across Russia, the most prominent being this church which is adorned with 22 onion shaped domes.
