Books
We had a meeting in the sixth form library today. I can't remember the last time I went in a book shop, which is the other occasion on which I'm surrounded by books, and I found it very restful sitting there looking at all of the loaded shelves. It made me feel like reading!
I was sat just opposite a shelf with these two books on it and that reminded me of another great aspect of libraries and bookshops, and that is that you come across books in a way that you don't if you're browsing on Amazon. Seeing these two books opposing one another both physically and intellectually made me want to read both of them.
That said, I'm not I could wade through another Dawkins. I loved 'The Selfish Gene', which I re-read a couple of years ago, but I find the militant, sneering atheism the colours his output these days really wearing.
