Working 5-9

Its true. I'm still doing work. Replying to emails, filling out forms, scheduling in appointments and writing notes on things i need to do like contact the hospital about kanyes meds etc

For a stay at home mama i sure do have a lot of admin type stuff to do, today has been the  busiest day for me.

Since Marleys new diagnosis i've had a lot of agencies that i'm either yet to be involved with or currently are get in touch to assess or reassess. 
Ive had a lot of meetings and am continuing to have them. 

Now we have a car my ccs worker gave me a whole range of places and groups that both mar and kanye could go to.

We've enrolled Kanye into a  dance class that is for special needs kids called starjam, they run workshops weekly where they dance, sing and play music and then every now and then they do performances. Kanye loves to dance and sing so its right up his alley.

We've enrolled Marley into a yoga class called mindful movers, its once a month for an hour where they do yoga, dance and breathing techniques. The teacher who is running it emailed me back today saying this :

'I think our class will be great for Marley. I will write his name down and of course if it makes him feel more at ease you are welcome to stay during the class. 


Prior to moving to New Zealand I was a special needs teacher in the United States. I spent most of my career working specifically with children with Aspergers so we are pretty well prepared but of course having you or your husband there with your intimate knowledge of Marley will help. Please let me know if he has anything that really bothers him (touching, loud noises etc) or works well for him so that we are even better prepared to help make this class a success for him'. 




How nice is that? That they are willing to make sure he feels included and want to know how to help him best, that she is trained with kids like him. Makes me more confident that he'll enjoy it when the person running it gets how he might be and understands about how he might struggle in some areas. 

Harper and Marley are now enrolled into children s classes every second Sunday too so our little family is about to get a lot busier!

Today i had a meeting with the RTLB for Marley. They are resource teachers for learning and behaviour. I met with her a few weeks ago and she has been in school observing Marley to see where he is struggling. 

Funding through this government agency designed to help school with kids who are struggling is limited and the school have to reapply every term. She told me today that she is going to give Marley half an hour a  day teacher aid to help him with maths as hes really struggling in this area, its just doesn't stick for him. 

Now that hes in the system, hes more likely to get ongoing help and when the school apply for orrs funding which is another funding group through the government/ ministry of education but is sort of permanent through schooling years for Marley to have a teacher aid that will then work him in all areas he needs hes more likely to get it.

Kanye has very high orrs funding which means he gets the highest amount because of his disability and high needs.Because he goes to a special needs school that funding goes to having a speech therapist, ot and physio on board as part of his regular teaching team.

So i'm really happy hes getting the help he needs as he still is getting teacher aid support for his language and literacy but this runs out at the end of the year and cant be renewed.

She gave me some info and websites i can look at for resources to help Marley at home.

I've been in touch a lot with Kanyes school as they are referring him to a specialist group to help with strategies to help manage him when he lashes out. Marley is being referred to the same company for ideas on how to calm him down when he crashes. Marley is also being referred to beacon house which do external physio and occupational therapy so they will do a sensory profile for mar and then help me with areas he struggles with.

All of my family is in bed, Andre lay down while waiting for Kanye for fall asleep and he did too and hasn't since got up so i've left him, Kanye is difficult to get to sleep but is fine once asleep. 

My printer is working hard tonight printing out resources and forms i need to fill to scan back in, hoping i do not run out of ink. 

Was thinking today how much i need a personal assistant to do all this, but then i also need security staff to make sure the front door is always locked as is the side gate and the toilet and bathroom door, then i could do with a chef to make dinner for me and for the kids that they would actually eat, a nanny would help with harper who is such a busy little soul.

I could do with having a nurse on staff to help take care of them all, ooh a laundry person would be great too have so much of it i cant even deal with it on these rainy days. 

Thats it, i think, all the staff i need. Soooo really i need to win lotto, must buy lotto ticket. If i only had a personal assistant to remind me to do that.......

Must go to bed, been up since 5am. Far too early. And the time changes over the weekend too, that's going to confuse me.
