to Lose One's Head
Esmerelda (seen here) has been a much loved ornament in our garden for many years. She enjoyed a peaceful life until the moment a couple of months ago when grandson Ffinlo thought it would be a good idea to try and climb up to have a conversation with her.
At that moment she lost her head and for a couple of days the scene resembled the Fall of Rome.
However although she was heavy to lift we managed to get her to a place of safety and a copious amount of quick setting epoxy resin did the trick. The broken and chipped edges on her neck were then filled with sand and cement.
After everything had set solid she was moved back in to her formal regal position and her neck was given a liberal dressing of yoghurt. This is an old gardeners trick to encourage the speedy growth of lichen to cover her neck wound.
She is now almost as good as new.....
