Annie and Chris

Returning to Nature

This was back-blipped due to lack of Internet access at the time.

Our holiday in Iceland continued with a quick stop at a local organic fish farm - later in the evening our local guide cooked the Chard picked up here beautifully. One of the best fish meals I've (Annie) ever had. While the guide shopped, we photographed turf houses, a waterfall and Icelandic horses. One of our fellow travellers, Ian, even found time to rescue a lamb stuck in ditch water.

This blip is By Annie of some old farm buildings next to one of the oldest churches in Iceland at Núpsstaður. The church dates from the 17th century. These are turf farm buildings - and look like hobbit houses! It was very wet here, so a lot of lens-wiping was done, with a high-tech bin bag protecting the camera.

Then on to Skaftafell National Park for a 10km walk up to the Svartifoss waterfall and a view over the Skaftafellsjökull glacier. It was hard going, mainly because of the rain that was falling harder at this point. By the time we were at the glacier, Annie was wet through all her layers. She knew it was time to return to the coach when Viv wrung out her lens cloth and a cascade of water came out of it.

Back to thaw out in our lodge in the Skaftafell National Park. Much competition for hot showers and radiators to hang things on!
