Holiday almost over

So time for reflection. Sentosa island would have been better if we had had grandchildren with us but we had no excuse for a cable car trip on a hazy day, nor for a visit to Universal studios. The imported beach had stunning views of the shipping lanes and the water was tepid bath tub hot. Paddling was performed but no swimmers with us meant no excuse to take a dip. We did a lot of walking in a quiet relaxed sort of way and were back in time for a trip to Holland Village for an amazing curry at the Curry Hut in Lor Mambong. The roads get closed in the evenings and the diners spill out on to the street. The atmosphere is like a relaxed party with a constantly changing mix of locals, tourists and ex pats. We ate chilli prawns and chicken, peanut masala and chick pea chat as starters then maxed out on a stunning lamb Madras, vegetable Jalfrezi and butter chicken. The dishes had been created by our host Anand who is the chef at the North Border, a top chap, one of Bernie's acquaintances and now our best pal in Singapore. He had helped set up the curry hut as a favour to his friend Basha who manages the place, and eats there as regularly as he can. Later we headed to another busy bar for Margaritas before weaving a hot and sticky path back to our hotel.
