Night of the Parents
A day of constant boom moments and must do's. More booms followed, via the commute from work, picking up kids and home to domestic guddles and a Gallus puppy. I haven't seen daylight much recently, what with late work nights, lunch on the hop in offices and the usual mum stuff responsibilities. But then all of a sudden I got a wee moment of zen in the garden with Max, while there was still good light. I sneaked a 5 minute cup of tea, sat outside and watched him play after a mad puppy half hour, and just listened to the birds. I was blessed by a wee visit from a woodpecker.
Then boom and the silence was gone. Donuts of the Krispy creme variety entered our house for the first time via Dave. Tess was awed into silence. Then boom and we're back on. Tess' S1 Parents at Meldrum Academy.
Teacher's with a sense of humour on tap. All reports tickety boo, more than tickety boo in fact, Tess is doing really well settling in and working well. The school just gives off such a good vibe.
Tess coped admirably with her oddball parents. And her parents coped admirably with the S1 parents night. When it was Sam's turn we were novices, Sam too, he booked appointments back to back, with no break, at opposite ends of the school. My memory is of frenetic running from one end of the school to another to keep to time, only to find teachers were running 20 mins late so we'd miss our next one, stressing that this was too crazy for words. This time, Tess managed 10 minute breaks in between, it almost felt too laid back, I even caught up with friends.
Naughty celebratory chipper on way home, though I'm sure Tess will sting us for something more girltastic this weekend as a reward for doing so well at the big school.
Two hedgehogs in the garden tonight, Max's nose must surely be made of space station defence technologies.
