Bridestones Pedestal

Awoke to clear blue skies and sunshine. Just had to get out early to make the most of the good weather.

Just up the Whitby road and above Dalby forest is some natural sculptures known as the Bridestones. These are composed of alternating layers of hard and softer sandstone which has been shaped by wind, rain and frost erosion. The area is owned by the National Trust. We have visited the area many times over the years with our three boys exploring all the nooks and crannies.

I always wonder how long this pedestal will last before it topples into the valley.
