The Old Abbey Cross

Down in Arklow this morning I got waylaid by someone I didn't expect to meet so I never did get to where I was going in search of some photos so instead I dropped by the small park which is on the site of the old Abbey. Founded in 1276 it flourished until the time of Henry VIII and the dissolution of the monasteries. Nothing remains of the original building except perhaps this stone cross and even that much is not a certain historical fact.
