10 miler!
Today was the annual Walk for Manorlands ( a Sue Ryder Hospice in Oxenhope) in memory of Ruth Jagger. It is in its 10th year and was organised for fundraising by Ruth's family, originally for her treatment but subsequently for the hospice.
I have done it 3 times now but in previous years I have peeled off at the 5 mile point. So I am pleased with my first attempt at the 10 miler! There were routes up hill; to the moors; and down hill to Ravenroyd and Bingley where we stopped at the Brown Cow for lunch. En route we saw a stag (see Corinthian Column https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/2094472164035003883 ) sitting the woods and 2 hinds with a young deer.
This was by far the worst bit - at the 8 mile point the climb up from the golf course at Beckfoot into Cottingley Woods had us all concentrating very hard!
Still the end was in sight and we were soon celebrating at the Malt Shovel back in our village. (See extra where you will spot Corinthian Column and Wilsden Walker)
A short walk to the cricket club to collect our certificates and a very welcome cup of tea!
Just had a soak in the bath then we are going to see our village Players in a Victorian melodrama done in the round this evening. Hope I can stay awake!
PS more stars and hearts for my 2000 has taken it to number 2 in popular, thank you!
