Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Patience!

I checked my email every five minutes this morning, expecting the news that my new iPhone had arrived at Waitrose, ready for pick up as promised. By midday I rang them to see what the story was. It was actually with the courier at this point, and they could guarantee I'd get it within 24 hours, the chap informed me.

24 hours? *^%#¥*!!

I would have been better going and getting it from the shop myself when I was in town yesterday morning.

However, in between checking my emails all morning, Archie and I sat outside. It was so warm! I then set to and sawed down a big straggly bush in the corner. Good job done - I've been meaning to do that for ages.

Archie's American borrowers came to take him out in the afternoon. He recognised them, after doing his best guard dog barking when they came in his gate.

I watched the Scotland/USA match. Then the Ireland/Romania game. But in between the games, we popped up the Hill in the lovely evening sunshine, forgetting that it was Open Day at the Observatory and the place was mobbed. Loads of squealy little people on the Hill too. In fact, there were two wee girls with pink fairy wings getting near us when he was posing here, so well done Archie. Just missed the bit on the horizon where the two chimneys are no more.

An exciting week coming up. The new car arrives. And the new iPhone arrives. I can just about contain myself...
