A wrinkled club and an absence of an eclipse.
This charming little woodland fungus is the Wrinkled Club Clavulina rugosa. Club fungi have neither gills nor pores, the spores simply develop on the outside of the fruit body and when mature they are dispersed by the wind or rain.
Last night I watched the orange harvest moon rise above the sand dunes only to disappear into the clouds. Sadly, by the time the lunar eclipse got under way the cloud cover was complete. So I have no eclipse photograph to offer, other than one I prepared earlier, in December 2006.
