A balmy lotus flower

"Upon the lake reposing" I used ro sing that (from "On wings of song I'll bear thee") when I was a boy soprano.
It was my party piece - a command performance to be sung at my parents' bidding - even if I did not wish to!
I think my sister hates it, for that and other reasons that I quite understand.
Despite the cold nights, almost a frost last night and thick fog this morning, the water lilies are still showing.
They are little jewels of colour in the autumnal garden.
