City of Culture 2017

We went to see the Northern Ballet perform Madame Butterfly at he New Theatre in Hull. 
Tear jerking performance as her 4 year old son is wrenched from her arms and the music of Puccini. The finale was surprisingly liberating as Madame Butterfly escapes the abuse of her sad life by taking control and killing herself clad in  a bright red kimono and to the sound of strong mordern Japanese music.
