Crab Apples

Went for a walk at Burnham Beeches this morning to enjoy the autumn colours - plenty of crab apples on the trees. Not for picking, of course, but that doesn't matter since I was able to buy a whole bag of Laxton's Epicures yesterday (from the Walled Garden at Hughenden Manor). These older, traditional apple varieties are wonderful if you're lucky enough to come across them.
