Aperture on Life

Sunflowers

The Sunflowers are late to bloom this year,  Blue skies for a few days, the air is warm and they've suddenly shown their blooms.  It's been a bad year for them.  What the wind hasn't blown over, the sheep munched during a furtive rampage in the garden when the gate was left unsecured.  I've saved a handful of plants to bring  some late autumn colour in the garden.

One of the reasons I grow them is to harvest tender buds before flowering. Try steaming them and serve them with butter or a little oil and garlic.  Delicious!
