Cockatoo Island ...

Just back from a quick overseas holiday .... well, maybe that is pushing the definition of 'over seas', but we spent the night camping on Cockatoo Island in the middle of Sydney Harbour.

What a find, right on our doorstep. Walking around the island is like being transported back in time to it's many former lives .... a convict settlement, a girl's reformatory, a Navy dockyard and a shipbuilding yard. All have left a strong presence and you virtually have free access to walk around through the buildings and tunnels.
