Thinking more visually

Festina lente

A morning meeting at one of the Scottish Galleries of Modern Art (well, the cafe anyway) and my eye was caught by the words in the path. "Festina lente" - make haste slowly, or more haste, less speed. The path has lovely small stones inlaid, and leads to the Jenks landform which I love!

"Festina lente" was the motto of the Roman Emperors Augustus and Titus, and sometimes it feels as though it has replaced the "Reformed and always reforming" motto (I think) of the Church of Scotland. Perhaps this is the price we pay for a Presbyterian system of government by committee.

A beautiful view, despite the rain, and a remarkably inspiring meeting.
