Almost Everything

This image has so many Fort Collins "classics" in it -- public art, huge bowls of bright flowers, bicycles, benches, folks walking, colorful pianos, and a heat-whitened sky (97F / 36 C when I took it at 12:50pm and still the same temperature at 7:35pm).

Here's a close-up of some of the details -- iconic Fort Collins images. This art reminded me of similar wall murals in Portland.

The Fort Collins Museum is closed until November 12 for renovations; we may have to come back at some future date to see it, judging from the appealing "teaser" windows. I thought of Lady Findhorn when I took a close-up of this bicycle -- I may have had one like this about that time, and none since, unlike her!

When Phil and I were walking around Fort Collins this afternoon, I snapped this view on the "main drag," a classic example of the spaciousness and wonderful floral displays of this very nice western city.

At about 4:30pm we once again ended up in Ace Gillett's Lounge, in the same building as our downtown hotel, where we now know one of the bartenders and have been delighted with the quality of the food, as well as the wine and beer (haven't ordered any spirits yet). I drank beer there yesterday, but today -- after beer at lunchtime -- I felt the need for some wine, and had a nice glass of Pinot Gris from Oregon, followed by prosecco (Italian), with food in between. It's great not having to drive or walk more than a few steps to arrive at "home"!

Saturday's Colorado Brewers' Festival will be taking place under very hot conditions -- the expected high has gone up two more degres F, to 103F / 39.5 C. Our VIP passes allow us early access to the festival, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., but with 10 tickets each (1 ticket = one 4 oz. / 120 ml pour), we may well be at the festival for an hour or two after that. It will be interesting to see how we cope with the double whammy of lots of good beer and extremely hot temperatures!
