One option.

.....for the future for Mrs DD and I would be to downsize our house, maybe even to a different area altogether - as I can work from pretty well anywhere in the country - and buy a narrow boat to spend part of the year on.

We have a number of friends who have done this and indeed, two of them are at the point of selling their boat at the moment.

Sadly, this may be the extent of our finances which may make it a bit exposed and chilly for sleeping on.
