The Bag Lady

Don't forget to take your own bag when shopping. Shoppers in England must pay 5p for a plastic carrier bag from today to combat the 7.6 billion bags given out each year. This only applies to shops employing more than 250 people. Some items do not incur this 5p charge, such as uncooked meats and fish, knives, razors, flowers, takeaways and goldfish !  I'm not sure if 5p will deter many people, I can't think of anything you can buy with 5p. This pottery ornament was given to me by my daughter several years ago as I always used a Marks &Spencer's carrier bag.  That reminds me of someone who pretends they don't shop in Poundsavers and takes a M&S carrier bag in there !  My mum always had her own basket or vinyl bag when she shopped.
