Frustration!

Could have wept with frustration - my camera battery ran out and I neglected to bring either charger or spare battery - and only found out when light in Edinburgh this afternoon was superb. Walked miles up and down two of the best shopping streets in Europe looking for a battery, a charger, anything - to no avail.

Eventually, husband finished his psychological assessment and joined me - I took this with his iPhone, which neither he nor I really know how to use, but saved the day as far as Blip goes. Have done some serious reflection on my Blip addiction...

Anyway, walked some more, and ended up with the kindest man on earth in John Lewis trying to charge my battery on all his chargers - again, to no avail - my camera is too old, apparently. Decided to quiz him on a new camera - he was brilliant and sang the praises of the new Lumix bridge cameras - a lot less money than I was thinking, but seems they'd do as good, if not better job, than what I have now, plus - HUGE advantage - being a lot lighter; I get elbow ache from carrying this old Canon plus lens, around...

Does anyone have any advice? Sorely tempted to go buy it in the morning before leaving Edinburgh.

Evening ended wonderfully with a superb meal at Bia Bistrot, (recommended by fellow blipper - thanks!) except that we might now be getting a divorce as M said it was best meal he'd had in ages...

Oh, and can now share the most exciting news - look at this! Make sure you notice the smaller picture. We are thrilled, needless to say.
