Golden Light On The Rail Trail
We're down South for a couple of days, staying at the lovely Wedderburn Cottages on the Central Otago rail trail.
We came down via the always stunning Dansey's Pass, but unlike my last trip over the pass I didn't stop to take photos due to the weather; our whole journey south saw us buffeted by gale force Nor'Westers but up over the pass at altitude it just seemed crazy to battle the strong winds just to take a photo.
At the bottom of the pass Mrs H and I reckoned we deserved a cold one, so we stopped at the historic Dansey's Pass Hotel for some southern hospitality in liquid form.
By the time we reached Wedderburn the weather was closing in, the much needed Southerly cutting temperatures in half and delivering some much needed showers. As the showers eased I snuck out of our cottage to grab this shot from the veranda looking out towards the Hawkdun range.
