The Owl Sanctuary
In town today & who should I see but my friends from the Owl Sanctuary.
Popped in to discuss potential dates for my Christmas treat for the old folks home & couldnt resist a blip of these guys. Today I handled the Barn, Small Eared, Little, Tawny and (unbelievably cute) Burrowing Owls' - I'm still happy to keep a respectful distance from the Eagle Owl. All of these owls are rescues and they are all real characters - there is another Little Owl out of shot who went nuts when I fed his friend - apparently he poops on purpose when annoyed. Today's interesting owl facts;
It's only Tawny Owls that Tuwit-Tuwoo and even then only if its a male AND a female as its a call and reply noise. Barn Owls screech. Short Eared Owls are mostly silent whilst Long Eared Owls make a drawn out oo-oo-oo sound. Non of which is as cool as a Burrowing Owl who likes to play games.
The big guys were in the window avidly staring at a dog. Emily said they were scared of it - but they certainly didn't show it and if anything I thought I saw them licking their lips...
