Five swans a-swimming

Today's the day ....................... for a family gathering

These swans were on the River Kent today - presumably parents and three offspring.

They were just slowly making their way upstream, stopping to put their heads down into the water to feed on the weed growing on the bottom.  They came across to see me, probably expecting a bit of bread - but I'm afraid they were out of luck.

It was also a treat to see a couple of goosanders as shown below.  They kept well out of everyone's way but there's no escape from the zoom lens .........................
