Shelley on the Shale

As some of you might know, Michigan is the ONLY state in the United States that is shaped like a hand. Thus, if you live in the lower peninsula...you can hold up your left hand, and point to where you live.

Today, Shelley and I went up into "the thumb" , a big hunk of land that borders Lake Huron.

We were in search of two things...some Autumn color, and some pumpkins. Pumpkins we did find...color not so much. Probably a little early.

We also saw two lighthouses. Port Sanilac, and this beauty...Point Au Barques. Port Sanilac WAS a beautiful lighthouse, almost completely covered in ivy. But, it is now being completely renovated (it is privately owned), with the ivy wiped out, and all sorts of construction vehicles in the way of our picture taking. HOW DARE THEY!!

In spite of seeing no Fall color, we still had a fun day.
