Pagosa Springs, Colorado, USA
Arrived in Pagosa Springs mid-afternoon - such a pretty little place with the steam from the hot springs rising into the air all along the river (you can see it on large).
Hotel rubbish - flyscreens that don't fit, strange (??) smell in the corridors and a few dodgy people wandering about (and it's a Best Western, was expecting better!!) - the bonus is all the small swallows flitting about in and out of the nests stuck to the side of the building, never knew they were so pretty but too fast for me to capture with my point and shoot :-(
Walked around the town, ate some delicious Mexican food and took lots of pictures.
Update on the spider bite - leg is more swollen, very red and itchy, the inflammation is now a red circle approx 7" across and all four bites look fiery - maybe time for professional help!!!!!!!
Go to hotel reception, explain and am immediately told, 'well that didn't happen HERE, WE don't have bugs' (yea right, they do) patiently explained that it happened a couple of days ago to then be told "We have no hospital here in Pagosa Springs, the nearest is in Durango and the doctors' surgery is now closed" ....... ok, plan B .... I have to ride through Durango tomorrow to get to Cortez (my next overnight stop) - call in then. Looks like a medicinal beer or two tonight to dull the pain!
(Now I know that all you people out there who know about the Brown Recluse are going to be thinking I'm some kind of idiot - bear in mind I knew nothing about that spider while all this is going on - only read up on it when I got back!!!)
