Blue mountains

Wow! Today was an awesome day! I learned so much about the Aboriginal people and their traditions! Our guide, Yemendera aka David, was so excited to tell us about his people, their traditions, the way they think, and the land around us. He taught us of this one plant that when forest fires come about in the hot seasons it opens up and releases its seeds. Only when fire is present! Isn't that cool?! He also told us of some plants they use to make different types of bread from. He told us that he had songs that he needed to memorize that consist if maps. Everything they did was intentional and I love it! They believe that everything happens for a reason and that they should respect it. At the beginning of the day he told us of the cleansing ceremony to cleanse the bad energy you may bring so you could have a good day. I loved how spiritual he was and you know what, I did have a better day! So it was a beautiful ceremony. The blue mountains were breathless and he told us many stories of his people. We also learned about some of their dances and some of their art. The dances describe different animals and when they do it they are giving thanks to the creator. Their art consist of a lot of symbols and dots and it is usually a map of some kind even though it isn't always obvious. I absolutely love how they think of the world and it is very refreshing!
