Apparently this a growing trend called yarn bombing. I must lead a sheltered life as its the first I've seen of it. But a Google search will show a whole variety of examples.

We visited Lagos today and did the touristy things: the fascinating museum, the fortress by the shore and the first European slave market.

But this was a bit more unusual on the Main Street. Sadly somewhat overcast so not the full blast of colour.
