Generation Game

It never ceases to amaze me how bringing a child into the world, doesn't just affect your life, but those around you too.
Take Audrey. She's turned our life upside down undoubtedly but her presence in the world is having a profound effect on our families too. Particularly my husband's. He's an only one as was his Mum so Audrey's arrival is the centre of their universe right now.

Today we took her to meet her Great Grandma and I was blown away by her reaction to holding her. It made us all so emotional. This was clearly a defining moment in her life meeting the next generation of her family. She just cradled her smiling and stared at her like she was committing to memory every inch of her face. Words can't do the scene justice. It was so moving.

Travelling North, car seats, unfamiliar surroundings, cots left in hot conservatories and some over-feeding played havoc with our neurotic Gina Ford schedule but in the scheme of things, did it matter? The look on that 86 year old lady's face made it all worth while....
