WORM FOR WILLIE . . .

Digging for a Blip today. Clearly the digging pattern is a well guarded local Bridlington secret. Here are 3 fishermen digging in the sand for lugworms to use as bait. All I can say is that the fisherman  in the foreground was the winner . . . clearly he followed the rules below.

Most bait diggers prefer to use a garden fork, as shown here. A spade cuts too many worms in half.

These guys look for worm casts that are close together and then  ‘trench’ for the worms - digging up a section of beach, in the same way that a garden is dug. Any holes that have been dug should be filled back in.

Enjoy the worm poem . . . hehe

Willie ate a worm today,
he didn't bother to chew,
and we all stared
and we all squirmed
when Willie swallowed
down that worm.
Then slupp, slurp
Willie burped
yes Willie ate a worm today,
I think I'll eat one too.
