A red year!

These opium poppies self seed and grow every year in our garden. For several years in a row they are all mauve/lilac and the along comes a year when they flower red. I haven't kept an accurate record to check just how often this occurs - Maybe this blip can mark the start of my record keeping.

It's very windy outside so I opted to photograph inside. As the afternoon progressed the rain clouds gave way to sun - virtually unknown here this summer.

All is quiet on the home front tonight as our family is visiting another relative. So a chance to relax a bit. It'll be an early night too and a book at bedtime!

We are away from tomorrow at Center Parcs - I think the first time we will have done a four generation holiday!
