Woke to sunshine and warmth; there was never a doubt we should climb the highest summit on mainland Orkney - Mid Hill at Orphir. Sadly IainatCreel was horses to combat and we managed an ascent from the south face of Scorradale over Gruf Hill and Ward Hill. Stunning views; Tom managed really well, Alex needed an occasional lug up the steep bits.

We hit Creel HQ for tea and buns in the sun; chatted a while (but neglected to do WHW planning) and then back to base before an hour with the brother (no sister in law -coward!) and the nieces / cousins.

A tired rabble that hauled itself back up the hill to Lookout as darkness fell....
