Stock feed

This week has been a busy one for the men of the house as they have taken advantage of stock feed prices ready for next year.  The bulk feed is cotton hulls.  This year, for reasons I don't understand, there was a china-man involved in the order of the feed - there are more Chinese here than you would imagine involved in more things that we'd like to imagine.

The man from China is a bit more technologically advanced and money transferred within hours and the first truck of the total 90 tons arrived this afternoon.  Far, far sooner than expected - to the extent that a call had to go out to the neighbouring farms for additional labour (they weren't answering phones) and so additional labour was drafted in by the foreman from the local resettlement.  $5 for a few hours work - pretty good money when the national minimum wage is $72 a month.

More feed arriving over the next couple of days and I'm sure the local temporary labour force are hoping they will be drafted in again.

Of course, the one time you don't want it to rain, the sky turns black and it's constantly thundering, fingers crossed it will hold off until everything is packed away.
