Autumn Leaves
We've been meaning to visit Batsford Arboretum for ages, and as the trees are looking particularly well dressed at the moment, off we went this afternoon. The arboretum is very close to Moreton-in-Marsh in the Cotswolds, and is about half an hour's drive from home.
The display there was absolutely stunning - I even came out with two very loud "Wow!" s quite unexpectedly.
My extra is of the little church which is in the grounds. There are several Mitfords (of the family famous for the Mitford sisters) buried there and/or have remembrance plaques inside the church. It's a beautiful and peaceful little church and is in a very picturesque location, with Cotswold stone cottages just across from it.
After our walk, we stopped for a cup of tea, and upgraded our tickets from "single visit" to "season ticket" so we can return as many times as we like in the next year. It also covers us for Westonbirt Arboretum and another couple of places, so it was a bargain.
We were just leaving when we spotted the sign above two doors "LAVATORIES". What a nice place. I'm glad we now have a season ticket. Anywhere that calls them "LAVATORIES" is inevitably a lovely friendly treasure. Don't ask me why - it just happens to be true.
