Festival of Imagination

I got a last minute volunteering job today at the Festival of Imagination. I got the email yesterday and it was perfect since i needed to have a change of environment after several days of working on my thesis. I got to help out on 3 events, one of which was a 5gbp event which i got in for free (of course!). I managed to help out although i did little since everything was well organized.
The talk on the future of higher education (photo on today's blip) was most interesting to me being an overseas student. The issues that they were tackling about are far off from the problems that HEIs are facing in the Philippines. HEIs in the Philippines mostly focus on low budget allocation and how our standard could compete globally whilst here they are tackling issues about migration policies and its effect on overseas students and tranparency issues regarding the (huge!!!!) difference in fees between International and Home students. I also got to attend help out in this Improvisation show where three performers (a pianist, a comedian and a trumpet player) improvised their way all throughout the show. It was enjoyable and amazing. On top of that, i got to have a free t-shirt and lunch box for volunteering. Fun day!
